1. Information We Collect

We collect information in a few different ways depending on whether you are using the website or the app.

On the website, our hosting and delivery providers may receive basic technical information sent automatically by your browser or device, such as IP address, browser type, operating system, referring page, and request timing data.

If you sign up for the newsletter, send feedback through the site, or contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever message or other information you choose to include.

The website's newsletter and feedback forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to reduce spam and abuse. Turnstile may process technical information needed to perform that verification.

In the app, Playris needs access to Plex session and library information so it can sign you in, discover your server, browse your music library, and run playback. The Plex token is stored in the Apple TV Keychain. Selected server, selected library, and setup state stay on your Apple TV as part of the app's local state, rather than being uploaded to a Playris-run backend.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to operate the website and app, provide support, maintain security, improve reliability, and respond to issues or questions you send to us.

For the website, that includes processing newsletter signups, reviewing feedback sent through the site, replying when needed, and sending occasional product updates or support information.

In the app, Plex-related information is used to sign you in, reconnect your session, discover and connect to your server, load your music library, and control playback on the device.

We do not sell personal information and we do not use your Plex data for advertising.

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell personal information. We do not share your email with advertisers or third-party mailing lists.

We do use service providers or infrastructure providers that help us operate the website or app, subject to appropriate confidentiality and processing terms.

For the website today, that includes Cloudflare for hosting, delivery, and Turnstile verification, and Forward Email for delivering newsletter and feedback notifications.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights or safety of Playris, our users, or others, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

The app also exchanges information with Plex as part of authentication, library access, and playback workflows.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Playris website is a simple static site. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not currently run website analytics.

Like most websites, hosting or delivery infrastructure may still record standard request logs and use basic technical mechanisms needed to serve the site securely and reliably. In addition, Cloudflare Turnstile may use cookies or similar mechanisms when you submit the newsletter or feedback form so it can perform bot and abuse checks.

5. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, as well as rights to object to or restrict certain processing.

6. Data Retention and Security

If you email us, sign up for the newsletter, or send feedback through the website, we may retain that correspondence or submission for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, provide support, maintain security, send occasional product updates, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our agreements.

Website newsletter and feedback submissions are currently delivered as notification emails. They are not stored in a separate Playris-run website database.

For app data that remains on your device, retention is generally tied to the app itself and your use of it. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information, but no service can guarantee absolute security.

7. Children’s Privacy

Playris is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the website.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version here and change the last updated date above.
